Is the Adult Learner Program Right for Me?
The American Online High School Program for Adults offers adults aged 18 and older a streamlined pathway to earning an accredited American High School Diploma. Unlike the traditional 24-credit high school program, eligible students complete diploma requirements through an 18-credit curriculum designed specifically for adult learners. Students are given one year to complete the program.
We recommend an English proficiency level of at least B1 (lower-intermediate) for comfortable learning and academic success. Applicants whose English proficiency may not yet be sufficient for the program are generally required to complete our 3-month ESL Prep Course before beginning their studies. If you are unsure of your language level, you can verify it by taking the certified ELTiS test through JDJ.
Starting your courses
After enrollment, our admissions team reviews your previous academic records and prepares an individual academic plan.
Once your account is activated, you receive access to the learning platform, course materials, and support services. Students can communicate individually with U.S. teachers through a variety of online tools and begin studying as soon as their courses are assigned.
Methods and learning
Learning at JDJ IOS is delivered through a modern Learning Management System (LMS) that provides students with access to a wide range of educational resources. The curriculum combines video lessons, reading materials, quizzes, assignments, and project-based tasks designed to help students master the required material and successfully complete their courses.
The program follows a flexible, asynchronous learning model, allowing students to study whenever it best fits their schedule. Learning materials are available online 24/7, and students can progress through their courses while balancing education with work, family, and other commitments.
The Adult Learner Program is designed to be completed within 10 months from account activation. Students who need additional time may extend their enrollment, while motivated learners may complete the program earlier by finishing all required coursework and assessments ahead of schedule.
Students can communicate individually with U.S. teachers through a variety of online tools, with consultations and academic support available according to each student’s needs.
American Core Curriculum
The American Online High School Program focuses on developing key 21st-century competencies: communication, critical thinking, and self-reliance. Assignments are primarily about presenting and defending your own views, rather than matching an assessment key.
American High School Diploma — University & Career Opportunities
An American High School Diploma can help open the door to university studies in the United States and many other countries worldwide. For adult learners, it can also support career advancement, career changes, professional development, and access to educational opportunities that may otherwise be unavailable.
As a graduate of an English-medium high school program, you may also meet the English language requirements of some universities without the need for additional examinations such as IELTS or TOEFL, although admission policies vary by institution and should always be verified directly with the university.
For students who plan to continue their education, JDJ also offers optional educational mentoring to help with academic planning, university selection, and the admissions process.
Affordable
Earning an American High School Diploma through a traditional international or private school can be expensive and often requires a significant time commitment.
The Adult Learner Program at JDJ IOS offers a more affordable and flexible alternative. Students can complete their studies entirely online while balancing education with work, family, and other responsibilities.
By combining an internationally recognized American High School Diploma with the flexibility of online learning, the program makes further education and career development accessible to a wider range of adult learners.
Recognition and Accreditation
Our American Online High School programs are run in partnership with an American High School curriculum provider accredited by Cognia (SACS CASI) and listed in the official register of private institutions maintained by NCES (National Center for Education Statistics), a federal statistical agency operating within the U.S. Department of Education as part of the Federal Statistical System of the United States.
In practice, this means an authentic American educational experience, with materials that comply with Common Core Standards as well as the requirements of the Florida school district. Furthermore, subjects are available that are NCAA-approved (National Collegiate Athletic Association), allowing students who choose them to apply for athletic scholarships at prestigious American universities.
The American High School Diploma is recognized by universities around the world. Graduates of the American High School Program at JDJ IOS study at universities ranging from South Korea, through Poland and Germany, to the United States.
